Dutch paytech Adyen names Tom Adams as new CTO

  • New CTO Appointment: Tom Adams, a former executive at Cash App, has been appointed as the new CTO of Adyen, a Dutch payments processor.
  • Approval Status: Adams’ appointment has been approved by De Nederlandsche Bank and is pending shareholder approval at an upcoming extraordinary general meeting (EGM).
  • Role and Responsibilities: If approved, Adams will oversee the strategic and technological vision of Adyen’s single platform, which integrates payments, data, and financial products.
  • Predecessor: Adams will succeed Alexander Matthey, who has served as Adyen’s CTO for the past three years. Matthey decided not to apply for another term due to the challenges of balancing his work in Amsterdam with his family life in Berlin.
  • Recent Executive Departures: Recent departures from Adyen’s executive team include Steven van Bommel and Jan-Pieter Lips, who left the company in January for new roles at Gigs and DNA Payments, respectively.
