Morgan Stanley appoints Ted Pick as new CEO

  • Morgan Stanley has appointed its current co-president, Edward (Ted) Pick, as the new CEO and a member of its board of directors, effective from January 1, 2024.
  • James Gorman, who has served as CEO for the past 14 years, will transition to the role of executive chairman. Gorman announced his intention to step down as CEO at the firm’s 2023 annual general meeting of shareholders.
  • Pick has a long history at Morgan Stanley, having first joined the company in 1990. He has held various roles, including head of equity capital markets, head of institutional equities, and global head of sales and trading.
  • Morgan Stanley has also made other leadership changes, appointing co-president Andy Saperstein as head of wealth and investment management, and Dan Simkowitz as co-president and head of institutional securities.
