German funds servicer Universal Investment names Francesca McDonagh as group CEO

  • Universal Investment Group names Francesca McDonagh as new group CEO, effective from January 1, 2024.
  • Francesca McDonagh previously served as the group CEO of Bank of Ireland and led key acquisitions and digital banking initiatives.
  • She also worked as the group COO of Credit Suisse, overseeing strategic initiatives, including an acquisition into UBS Group.
  • McDonagh’s extensive industry experience primarily comes from her roles at HSBC, including heading its European retail and wealth management business.
  • Universal-Investment is a Frankfurt-based Super ManCo specializing in investment solutions for institutional investors, with around €979 billion in assets under administration and 2,000 fund mandates.
  • As group CEO, McDonagh’s responsibilities include geographical expansion, mergers and acquisitions, and enhancing current services with support from shareholders Montagu and CPP Investments.
