BMO Financial Group has appointed Darrel Hackett as its new US CEO, president and CEO of BMO Harris Bank and CEO of BMO Financial Corporation, effective from 1 June 2023, succeeding Dave Casper who will retire.

  • BMO Financial Group has named Darrel Hackett as its new US CEO, president and CEO of BMO Harris Bank and CEO of BMO’s US holding company, BMO Financial Corporation (BFC).
  • Hackett will start in his new role from 1 June 2023 and will report to group CEO Darryl White.
  • Hackett will also join the bank’s executive committee and chair its US management committee.
  • Hackett has been with BMO for almost two decades, serving in several leadership roles including heading up the bank’s US business banking group and its North American integrated channels team. He was most recently president of BMO’s wealth management division in the US.
  • Hackett replaces Dave Casper, who has announced his retirement from the role and will now serve as chair of the board, effective summer 2023.
  • BMO Financial Group is the eighth largest bank in North America by assets, with total assets of $1.15tn as of 31 January 2023.
  • It provides personal and commercial banking, wealth management, global markets and investment banking products and services to 12 million customers across Canada, the US and in select markets globally.
