Amazon set to roll out palm payment processing across all US Whole Foods stores

Amazon’s palm payment technology, Amazon One, will be deployed in all Whole Foods Market stores across the US by the end of the year.

Facts

  • Amazon One, introduced by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2020, enables contactless payments, identification, loyalty, and general entry through a scan of the user’s hand vein network.
  • It can be linked with Amazon’s Prime services, providing members with additional savings during transactions.
  • The technology has already been deployed at over 400 locations across the US and will now be integrated into all Whole Foods Market stores nationwide.
  • The technology is currently available in nearly half of the store’s locations in states like New York, California, Arizona, Texas, and Washington, with further expansion expected.
  • The integration will be supported by partnerships with major US banks and payment providers, such as American Express, Mastercard, Discover, and Visa, ensuring secure and convenient transactions.
