Tibit Raises $30M in Series C Funding

  • Tibit Communications, Inc., a Petaluma, CA based company developing network devices for fiber broadband access, raised 30m in Series C funding
  • Backers included Liberty Global (LGI), Swisscom Ventures, Intel Capital, Ciena, Juniper Networks and Solasta Ventures
  • The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its 25G ASIC program, which will build upon its 10G ASIC and MicroPlug™ OLT product line, and scale its manufacturing capabilities
  • The company is simplifying passive optical networks (PON) for service providers with the MicroPlug™ OLT, a pluggable OLT
  • The MicroPlug’s standard-based SFP+ form factor enables the device to plug into commercially available Ethernet switch platforms, expanding architecture options for carriers
